Our full booking conditions can be found by clicking here – Booking Conditions

When booking your own trip accommodation, we strongly recommend booking accommodation that has a FREE cancellation policy.

On the rare occasions we are forced to cancel an adventure trip due to low participant numbers, we will contact you no later than 2 weeks before the start of the trip. Therefore we recommend booking accommodation that has a minimum two weeks cancellation policy.

If you would prefer to check with us to confirm if a trip is running before booking your accommodation, please contact us and we will be happy to help.

Please book via the Country Adventures website using our secure online booking process. Once your booking is made you will automatically receive an email confirming your booking.

If you have any enquiries about the booking process, or a last-minute availability query, simply get in touch via our contact page.

If you would prefer to speak to us, please contact us, we are open:

Bookings must be made by an adult (18+yrs).  Our adventures are suitable for adults and students. Under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult guardian.

You can choose to pay the full amount, or alternatively pay a deposit if the option is available.

8 weeks before the activity start date we will send you a helpful reminder requesting the balance. However, you can pay the balance any time prior to the 8 week second payment reminder (a payment link is provided in the booking confirmation email).

Booking in advance is required to secure your place on your chosen activity. Reservations help us determine the number of activity leaders we need to ensure that our groups remain manageable and enjoyable.

Preparation

The Trip Notes section for each adventure includes what appropriate clothing you need to bring with you. It is preferable to dress in layers and wear clothing that will wick away perspiration and keep you dry and comfortable on the activity.

Guiding Walking

Wear what you would normally have for going walking including walking boots, ruc-sac and waterproofs (essential items) and we have recommended other items for your own personal comfort.

Other Adventure Activities

For some of our outdoor adventure activities, including canoeing and gorge scrambling, we supply as part of the activity, specialist clothing such as wetsuits, buoyancy aids, helmets and the activity equipment needed to enjoy the adventure experience.

Walking is known to be a great activity for staying fit and healthy. With Country Adventures you can do that, while at the same time exploring some truly amazing places and hidden gems right on our doorstep here in the UK.

‘Am I fit enough’ is a question people ask. As with any physical activity a certain level of fitness is needed to enjoy and get the most out of the activity. Our walking grades are useful in helping you decide which guided walk is best for you, but if you are uncertain about your fitness and it is your first walk with us, we’d recommend choosing an easier grade to see how you get on.

During a walk we definitely wouldn’t leave anyone trailing behind and early into a walk our experienced walk leader will be able to judge if someone has chosen a walk beyond their ability, so for the safety of the individual and the group, they may require the participant to retire from the walk at a convenient and suitable point.

Walking Grades

To help you decide which walk to book on, we have created a set of walking grades as a general indication of what to expect a walk to be like. Also, in the individual trip details, we provide walk details including length and total ascent gained over the duration of the walk.

WALKING GRADES:

EASY (GRADE 1)
2 – 5 miles | Total Ascent under 500 ft
Short walks mostly on well-defined flat paths and tracks, with any uphill sections being short and gentle.

MODERATE (GRADE 2)
5 – 10 miles | Total Ascent 500 – 1500 ft
Walks at a steady pace on undulating terrain including moorland, coastal paths and hills. We may encounter uneven stony ground on some walks.

MODERATE PLUS (GRADE 3)
5 – 10 miles | Total Ascent 1000 – 2600 ft
Walking at a reasonably active pace over coastal, moorland, hill or lower mountain terrain. Well defined tracks and paths. Suited to people with good fitness and a reasonable level of pace and stamina for walks that have more sustained ascents and descents.

CHALLENGING (GRADE 4)
7 – 15 miles | Total Ascent 1000 – 4000 ft
Longer walks on defined and undefined tracks with sustained ascents and descents on moorland, hill or mountain terrain. Mountain walks will have steep ups and downs with rocky terrain including ridges and scree in some sections.

TOUGH (GRADE 5)
7 – 20+ miles | Total Ascent 3000 – 5000+ ft
Walking at higher levels, mainly mountain terrain with steep ups and downs. Mountain terrain which may include ridges and scree sections. Suitable for fit and active people with a good level of stamina. Hill and mountain walking experience would be desirable.

Weather

We do undertake our adventure activities in the rain, snow, wind and any other weather conditions that nature decides to throw at us. After all, it’s all about the adventure. If the weather is unsafe for any reason, the activity will be changed or postponed and we will contact you up to 7 days before the start of the activity if there are changes due to the weather.
